Jamie Langton - Producer and Director

Jamie produces and directs , both multi camera studio and outside broadcasts together with single camera programmes. He works across a huge variety of programme genres including reality, sport, music, factual, current affairs, children's TV, cookery, lifestyle, chat shows, wildlife, premieres and even news.  Jamie's directed on some of the UK's top TV shows including The Big Breakfast, Richard & Judy, Jo Brand's What Are We Like, Blind Date, Wish You Were Here and The National Lottery Live with Bob Monkhouse. As a series producer, over the last four years alone he's produced (and in some cases directed) around 60 x 1 hour programmes for various channels including ITV1, Channel 4 and Discovery UK.

Jamie's always looking forward to new challenges and ways to make programmes that entertain and inform.  Recently, he's been producing and directing digital media content, from live webcasts to interactive on line programmes. In fact one of the shows he directed won a 2008 CiB Award of Excellence.

       

Jamie's also completed a half hour programme special from  the London International Classic Car show, which he produced and presents. He's also just completed his third 'Legend' series of classic car DVD documentaries, 'Capri - The Legend II'

          

Over a well established & successful career, Jamie's been responsible for over 800 hours of television at various levels, both in the studio and on location and as a series producer, around 148 programmes  across all genres. This role has included him overseeing the creative conception and elements of the shows, including titles, sets, graphics, editorial content, presenters and leading large teams under immense pressure and tight deadlines.  He produced 24 episodes of a popular regional BBC strand Out + About (nominated for an RTS Award) which gained some of the highest audience shares at the time for the region.  He then took the reins of a series for LNN that was into its third season, 'Bootsale Challenge' for LWT. At the time it was a regional London programme, but ITV felt the series could be turned into a network programme. He introduced some changes to the series which peaked at 1.5 million viewers and got its network slot. LNN then asked Jamie to produce the risque late night entertainment series, 'Wired' for Carlton TV which also did well.

        

As a multi camera studio and OB director, Jamie's worked on a huge variety of programming, from the 'Jackanory 2001' specials with Alan Bennet for BBC Knowledge, to being one of the reality directors on ITV1s 'Soccer Aid' with Robbie Williams and Gordon Ramsay as team captains and Ant & Dec in the studio.

          

In complete contrast, Jamie has also directed children’s programmes which include ‘Playdays’ ‘The Hoobs’, (BAFTA Winning sereis) ‘Fimbles’ (BAFTA Nominated Series)  ‘Jackanory’ and Nickelodeon. 

In 2001 he took over as series director of the BBC's consumer shows, Watchdog, Watchdog Healthcheck and Weekend Watchdog. After a year directing these programmes in the studio, he was  instrumental in overseeing the transition of these programmes from  the studio to the Watchdog office and as OBs from around the country.  

Jamie series produced 40 episodes of Moving Day for ITV Daytime, this went on to peak at 1.4 million with a good audience share and gained a re-commission. He series produced 30 episodes of ‘Name Your Price’ for Channel 4, this also did well for its slot and achieved a high audience share. Jamie then series produced 20 x 1 hour 'Animal Roadshow' programmes broadcast on the Discovery Animal Planet Channel. These received frequent 'pick of the day' choices. He then went straight into series producing 6 x 1 hour docu soap reality shows for The Discovery Channel called ‘The Garage’ and this series went on to be Discovery UK's most successful home produced programme (and was nominated for a 2007 Broadcast Award) at the time.  More recently, Jamie series produced 7 x 1-hour episodes of 'The UK's Toughest Jobs' for the Discovery Channel.
